Debt Collectors....Stop Their Game!

Financial problems can occur to everyone, whether you have a family emergency (medical, relationship problem, car repairs, etc.) or simply an unwise purchase.

Unfortunately the result is, many times the debt is handed over to a Collection Agency. Their job is to collect the debt by whatever means are available to them. They are required to abide by the Federal Trade Commission rules known as The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

While agencies are required to follow these rules, many do a fair job of utilizing the guidelines, but many maneuver in such a way that leaves much to be desired. Intimidation and harassment are tactics that agencies oftentimes use.

Examples of such tactics are: Calling many, many times daily, threatening court action when they do not intend to follow through, threatening jail time, posing as an attorney when they are not, asking for immediate payment in full, and abusive speech. Remember these people are trained and experienced in collection methods both good and bad. If you are not prepared you are at their mercy!

Before you negotiate a settlement....Before you refinance.... Before you consider bankruptcy....Prepare yourself by reading, asking questions of professionals, get various opinions from trusted individuals.

By these methods only will you know how to ask the proper questions of collection agents. You will develop your ability to reference legal guidelines which makes your position one of being on top and in control. The whole matter depends on you, not on some arrogant lowlife who wants to fatten his wallet. You are not the "deadbeat" they want you to feel like.

Life is for you to live your way. Proper preparedness and determination promote a rewarding and satisfying life.
